  • Previous experience with AI applications e.g., ChatGPT) and how you have used them (e.g., writing assignments)?

My previous experience with AI applications has mostly been fun and games. I've played around with ChatGPT to see what questions it can answer and how accurate it is. I've also tested out apps that record lectures and take notes for me. Additionally, I've used AI to help me reduce words in a paragraph or to edit my grammar for me.


  • Educational technology being used in your 3rd year practicum placement?

In my practicum this year, there are a few technologies being used. One technology that is very new to me is a Loft board. This board is like a smartboard and a huge iPad combined together. My mentor teacher also uses a document camera to project books and papers onto the board. From the student side, they have Chromebooks available to use when the teacher books them. Lastly, for class management and organization for home, she uses Google Classroom and Class Dojo.


  • What “burning” question do you have about the use of digital technologies in K to 9 education? Why is the question important to YOU?

I am really curious to learn more about using AI in the classroom. I want to learn about how we can use AI for assessment, feedback, lesson plans, and more. There is a big future in education with AI and I can't wait to find out ways to use it to save us time and benefit our classroom.

    Sidney! Love the idea of using apps to record lectures for you. I find I really struggle to take notes and this would be a great tool for me to use. I also found it interesting learning about the loft board used in your practicum. I've never heard of this and find it quite fascinating. I also want to learn more about the use of ai in the classroom. Great job!

Blog #4- Teaching with Technology

  Lesson                  Canva Above I have attached a link to my lesson plan and a link to the website we used in our lesson. While teaching this lesson in class, I experienced some challenges. The first challenge was teaching this to only one student as the others students hadn't arrived yet. This meant that the group discussion portion of the lesson didn't go as planned. Instead, Emily and I shared some of our traditions and participated in the discussion. We also had some troubles with the Smart Board as the video wouldn't go full screen and Canva didn't want to work. However, we instead used our computer to show the students Canva and also created our own Canva collages like the one I created above (Los Tres Reyes Magos). Integrating ICT and Math

The Great Place Value Challenge Lesson Plan Above I have attached a link to my lesson plan that integrates Mathematics with ICT using a website called Scratch. This lesson is something that I can use in the classroom I am currently placed in. The children have been learning about place value and I think that they would really enjoy this game as another way to practice their learning. They really enjoying playing math board games but I haven't seen them play anything on a computer yet so this would be a fun way for them to try because it is low stakes. With this lesson, I could also move forward by teaching students how to use Scratch to create their own math games. This would be a fun way to integrate the computer science outcomes with math and ICT because students would learn more computer and coding skills, while being able to create a math game about any of the topics they've learned so far.
